What is child life specialist? The first day we had chemo was also a “long” day. We were so new that I didn’t know anything about anything yet. A woman came into the room and gave us a bag from Bags of Fun. It was AMAZING and you can find out more about them here.
She distracted us. There were so many people in and out of the room. I remember her name because it was Alison, the same as mine, but spelled differently.
She wasn’t a nurse, and she dressed in regular clothing – no scrubs and no white coat. She was just there to help us get through whatever procedure was next – accessing her port was the main thing that we needed her for. We got used to and relied on them.
